Lab #1 Comments Oct 06 2008 1. Check the terminology of the legend. Change the confusing names of layers and headings, such as camborder or Med_HH_Inc. Add the units of the variables. 2. Don't forget to include the description of features with no data (Null Value) into the legend. Always give a unique symbology (color or texture) for the exclusion. 3. Specify the method of classification. 4. Better to use whole values on the scale bar, and if the unit is in feet, when it is over some thousand, it is somewhat difficult for readers to make sense of the scale and better use miles. 5. Pay attention to the layer orders: usually lines are above polygons and points are above lines. 6. Don't crowd your map with unnecessary details.
